About Fall Dusting Powders

What is a fall dusting powder?

A fall dusting powder is a traditional after-bath body powder, finely milled to soften the skin and leave a light, seasonal fragrance. In the Stillroom, each blend is made to order in small batches — never mass-produced — and crafted to carry the memory of autumn, from woodsmoke and citrus to fading florals and forest greens.

Because they are hand-blended and talc-free, every jar and refill is finished with care, sustainable packaging, and our archival card system — designed to be both practical and collectible.

How do I use it?

Dust lightly on clean, dry skin after bathing for a silky, comforting finish. You may also refresh linens, quilts, and woolens before storing them for the season, or sprinkle a little into boots after long woodland walks.

Each Stillroom Dusting Powder is hand-blended fresh when ordered, so its fragrance lingers close to the skin — gentle, never overpowering — and may be layered with other blends in the Seasonal Woods & Weather collection for a deeper autumn ritual.

By ritual, we mean a quiet practice, a simple act repeated with care — turning everyday moments like bathing, dressing, or folding linens into a pause for memory and scent.

Is it talc-free?

Yes. All Stillroom Dusting Powders are talc-free and cornstarch-free, carefully milled from arrowroot, kaolin and bentonite clays, with premium fragrance or essential oils.

Each batch is sieved for a silky texture, blended to be breathable and skin-kind, and presented in packaging meant to be reused or refilled.

Our powders are intended for everyday use, a sustainable ritual rooted in stillroom tradition.

Why seasonal?

Each Stillroom Dusting Powder is inspired by the turning of the year — autumn leaves, winter hearth, spring bloom, summer meadow. Working in this way is part of stillroom tradition: herbs and scents were gathered in rhythm with the seasons, then kept and used as both remedy and remembrance. While these blends carry the name and memory of a season, they are available year-round, so that each customer may keep close the moment that speaks to them — whether it is autumn in New England or springtime far away.

A Season Pressed in Memory

Like a leaf kept between pages, this collection is autumn folded into powder and card — a keepsake of woods and weather, meant for keeping long after the season has passed.
