Vintage Nippon Yoko Boeki Porcelain Tabby Cat Figurine – Occupied Japan – Heirloom Housewares Collection – Piece No. 7

This little tabby has charm to spare — caught mid-bath with one paw in the air and that perfectly content expression only cats can master. Found during a winter trip to Massachusetts (where a quick stop for fish tank supplies turned into a treasure hunt through the most linen-filled vintage shop you’ve ever seen), this figurine carries all the sweetness of a quiet find.

Marked Japan on the base and bearing the Nippon Yoko Boeki maker’s mark, it likely dates to the 1940s, produced during the Occupied Japan era. The porcelain glaze is smooth and glossy, with hand-painted stripes and subtle aging. There’s the tiniest chip on the left front ear, barely noticeable, and not distracting from its sleepy, scrubby pose.

Perfect for a doll shelf, windowsill, or anyone who understands the quiet joy of a cat figurine that looks like it could purr.
