Collected in Winter · Rooted in the Stillroom Tradition

A Stillroom Vessel at the Turning of the Season
Across New England kitchens, simple milk-glass jars once held homemade yogurt and fresh milk — practical objects that lived close to daily life. These authentic 1974 Salton jars, gathered along the Maine coast and carefully restored, have been reclaimed for the Stillroom as dusting-powder vessels meant to be used, refilled, and kept.
Each jar holds a small batch of late winter powder — Pressed Balsam or Winter Linen — blended by hand in the mountain-house stillroom. As winter begins to loosen its hold, these jars carry the season gently forward: the last green of the woods, clean cloth in cool light, the quiet order of drawers and shelves being set right again.
Not a holiday keepsake — a working vessel at the turn.
· Mixed to order in the mountain-house stillroom, where winter work is slow and thoughtful. Finely milled for a velvety finish; fragranced with a soft, close-to-you warmth.

The Story
These vintage Salton jars were found last winter on a quiet girls’ trip to Cape Elizabeth, Maine — a weekend of visiting lighthouses, photographing the Christmas wreath hung on the tower, and wandering the little shops tucked along the coast.
They weren’t planned finds.
Two jars appeared in one shop, three more in another — unexpected treasures on a weekend meant only for rest, the mineral-water pool, a warm Italian dinner, and a cozy movie afterward. With no wrapping paper on hand, the jars were tucked safely into extra mittens from the hotel room before being carried home through the cold.
A simple winter memory now woven into the Stillroom:
five jars for Pressed Balsam, four for Winter Linen — each one gathered by chance and kept for this Midwinter Archive release.
Packaged in the Midwinter Archive style: warm parchment tones, archival lettering, and the soft scent of the Stillroom in late winter.
