Flaxseed is also known as linseed; ours is brown flax seed and has a slightly nutty flavor. Flax seeds are high in lignan and Omega-3 fatty acids. They are also sometimes used in vegan baking as a replacement for eggs, with 3 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds replacing one egg.
